Meadow Area and Valley Area at Keihannna Memorial Park

Landscape Design on the Theme of the Satoyama Sceneries

Keihanna Memorial Park was built in commemoration of the construction of the Kansai Science City that spreads across the prefectural borders of Kyoto, Nara, and Osaka, and the 1200th anniversary of the transfer of the capital Heian. In 1994, it was used as the venue for the National Urban Greenery Fair Kyoto. For the meadow / valley area of this park, we designed spaces that incorporated a valley formed with artificial small hills, terraced rice fields, a bamboo grove, a plum grove etc, with our design motifs of extensive lawns and tea plantation that have an impression of an expanse of fields. We also considered the habitat of creatures in the stream flowing through the park and designed the revetment without using concretes.
